This breakfast-friendly piña colada smoothie is packed with nutrients, and is a mocktail you can feel good about drinking!
I don’t mean to brag, but I’m kind of the queen of simple, nutritious smoothies. Okay, maybe “queen” is a strong word, but I know a thing or two about putting together a good blend. Intricate smoothie bowls and jars are gorgeous, and I could scroll through pictures of them on Instagram for hours. But this girl has three jobs and usually resort to chugging smoothies practically straight from the blender as I am running out the door.
I know you don’t have time to perfectly place each layer of fruit and drop of coconut shavings in your smoothies either. We’re in it together, friend. Let’s get our piña kale-ada on.
Since I usually take my smoothies on the go, I like packing in as much nutrition as possible. Greens are a must, because there’s just nothing better than getting in a serving of veggies at breakfast. On warm summer mornings, I love using a coconut water base to up the refreshing factor. Then to really get the nutrients poppin, I have been loving Ka’Chava Tribal Superfood to get a protein and antioxidant boost.
Frozen pineapple is just a divine gift for us mere mortals. In smoothies it adds creaminess and creates an awesome texture, and it adds a boost of sweetness without being too overpowering.
This smoothie has been my go-to breakfast all summer long. It is a combination of classic summer flavors, and is amazing after a tough workout. While I don’t necessarily recommend having a cocktail for breakfast, this is a piña “colada” that you can feel good about. Cheers!
- 1 Cup Frozen Pineapple
- 1 Cup Chopped Kale
- 1 Cup Coconut Water (I used Zico Pineapple for extra flavor)
- 1 Scoop Vanilla Ka'Chava
- 2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Coconut
- Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add more coconut water until desired texture is reached.
Your Turn:
- What are some of your go-to summer smoothies?
Disclosure: I received the Ka’Chava as part of my partnership with them as an ambassador. As always, all opinions were my own. Thank you for supporting brands that keep The Balanced Berry going.
Whenever I think of smoothies I ALWAYS picture a pina colada green smoothie…no joke 😛 Classic!
Hahaha yessssss, I do too!
Mmmm! This looks like summer in a glass!
Thank you Macy! It totally is 🙂
Haha! Pina “kale-adas” is so cute! 😉
I would probably add mango, too… I just think pineapple/mango/coconut is such a fresh, yummy flavor combo! 🙂 But I’m definitely with you on trying to pack in as much nutrition as possible! Does the pineapple effectively mask that strong kale flavor?
Ooooh mango would be amazing!!! I’m definitely adding that next time. For me, yes the pineapple is sweet enough to balance out the kale, but I have had a lot of green smoothies in my day. If you’re worried about the kale I recommend using spinach instead 🙂
I’ll have to try it both ways. 😉 Thanks!
