This Blackberry Mint Infused Water is refreshing, slightly sweet, and is an amazing water infusion.
Welcome to day 2 of the TBB Hydration Challenge! Yesterday, we talked about why hydration was so important and reviewed how much water we should be taking in each day.
Now that we know how much water we should be drinking (and why it’s so important to do so), let’s talk about some easy strategies for actually making it happen. Here are three simple tips for getting enough water into your day.
Hydrate before you caffeinate
If you wake up and reach for coffee first thing in the morning, grab some water first. After eight hours of sleep, chances are you’re already slightly dehydrated when you wake up in the morning (especially after a warm summer night). If you start chugging caffeine first thing, you aren’t giving your body the best chance to start on a hydrated note. Before your morning cup of joe, try to get in 10-20 ounces of water first.
I love having warm lemon water in the morning before drinking coffee, but you can have whatever you’d like. Just aim to hydrate before you caffeinate.
Do a little water bottle math
Yesterday, we talked about aiming for half your body weight in ounces of water each day, or at least 64 fluid ounces. In order to track how much water you should drink each day, take into account how many times you need to drink and refill your water bottle each day to reach your goal. For example, if you are aiming for 64 fluid ounces each day, and your favorite water bottle holds 32 fluid ounces, completely finish and refill that bottle twice.
Easy peasy!
Incorporate Hydrating Foods Into your Day
Don’t forget, water you get from food totally counts too! Thankfully, there are currently a ton of foods in season with a high water content that helps hydrate your body when you eat them. Try incorporating some of these yummy hydrating foods into your diet:
- Cucumbers
- Celery
- Watermelon
- Tomatoes
- Grapefruit
- Strawberries
- Cantaloupe
- Cauliflower
Alright, now let’s get to today’s recipe – Blackberry Mint Water. I love this blend because it is lightly sweet and incredibly refreshing. Bonus: mint is amazing for digestion, and blackberries are packed with antioxidants. I hope you enjoy this infusion as much as I do!
