These Chocolate Matcha Tahini Cups make the perfect chocolatey treat. They’re nut-free, dairy-free, paleo-friendly and super easy to make.
Welcome to Matcha Week! All week long I’m partnering with Vital Proteins to bring you five amazing matcha recipes using their Matcha Collagen.
It’s no secret that I love matcha. Back in 2016, I gave up coffee for the first half of the year and matcha was my jam. I was posting about it all the time and even made a video on this post sharing my go-to recipe for matcha lattes.
Every time I post a picture of my matcha (which happens nearly weekly on Instagram [LINK]), I get a ton of questions asking for more recipes and recommendations of brands that I like. I’ve tried a ton of different brands and kinds, and I can say without a doubt that my favorite matcha to use is from Vital Proteins. The quality of matcha is amazing, and I love the protein boost from the collagen peptides mixed with the matcha powder.
So I figured, what better way to celebrate my deep love of matcha than to share a week of matcha-themed recipes with you? Get ready for a great week, my friends.
What is it about nut butter cups that are so irresistible? Confession: I hated peanut butter and didn’t start liking it until I was around 21 (I know, I know – I was a weird kid). My exception to hating peanut butter came in two forms – peanut butter cookies, and peanut butter cups. Yes, growing up I was only interested in eating peanut butter unless you added copious amounts of sugar to it because #delicious.
Although I did eventually come around to liking peanut butter (thank goodness), I’m always looking for new ways to make old favorites. And these Chocolate Matcha Tahini Cups are a delicious millennial glowed-up version of traditional peanut butter cups. They also make an amazing no-bake treat when you want a sweet bite without heating up the whole house, and are perfect if you’re keeping things nut-free.
They’re crazy easy to make. All you have to do is mix together the filling of tahini, maple syrup, and Vital Proteins Collagen matcha then layer it between two layers of melted chocolate. Freeze until solid and BOOM. The glow-up is real.

Description
These Chocolate Matcha Tahini Cups make the perfect chocolatey treat. They’re nut-free, dairy-free, paleo-friendly and super easy to make.
Ingredients
Chocolate Layers:
2 Cups Dark Chocolate Chips
Matcha Tahini Filling:
½ Tablespoon Coconut Oil
1/3 Cup Tahini
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil, Melted
1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
1 Scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Matcha
Instructions
- Line a mini muffin pan with muffin cups and set aside (or you could use a silicone mold).
- Place the dark chocolate chips and 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 15-20 second increments until melted.
- Scoop about two teaspoons of the chocolate mixture into the base of the muffin tin, spreading in an even layer in each tin. Transfer to the freezer for a few minutes to harden.
- While the chocolate hardens, prepare your filling. In a medium bowl, whisk together the tahini, matcha, remaining coconut oil and maple syrup until well combined.
- Remove the muffin tin from the freezer, and scoop 1 teaspoon of the matcha filling into each tin. Cover with more of the melted chocolate mixture and transfer back to the freezer to set (~10 minutes).
- Store leftover cups in a sealed container in the fridge.
