It is no secret I am a beauty junkie. I love trying out new products and whipping up fun concoctions to try on my skin and hair. In fact, when it comes to self-care rituals, I often find myself trying new DIY beauty projects to unwind.
There is a sense of calm that comes along with taking care of yourself. Sometimes, focusing on beauty can be a slippery slope. Using beauty products, treatments, makeup and the like should be to make you look and feel more like, well, you. It is all about enhancing and taking care of what you have, and not changing it. Wanting to change your appearance or beautiful features would be the opposite of self-care. And you ainβt got time for that.
Off of my soapbox. Letβs make some face masks!
I whipped up this DIY face mask recently, and it is one of my favorite things to do for self-care Sunday. There are only three simple ingredients, and the mask is a breeze to whip up.
Green Clay – Exfoliates and helps remove impurities from the skin.
Rosewater – Tones and softens the skin. Packed with antioxidants that help keep skin healthy. Bonus: ever since I started incorporating rosewater in my skincare routine, my skin has been a lot more glowy. Who wouldnβt love that?
Rosehip Seed Oil – Quickly absorbs into the skin and is very moisturizing. Helps combat sun damage and age spots.
- 2 Tablespoons Powdered Green Clay (can sub Bentonite Clay)
- 2 Tablespoons Rosewater (can sub filtered water)
- 2-3 Drops Rosehip Seed Oil
- In a small bowl, mix together clay, rosewater and rosehip seed oil until a thick paste forms.*
- Apply to clean, damp skin in an even layer.
- Leave on for 10-15 minutes as the mask hardens.
- Remove the mask using a warm washcloth.
I love the ingredients you used – I use rosehip oil every night and find it so nourishing. Where did you buy the clay? l love clay masks, but have never tried making them myself!
I ordered it from iHerb! I have also seen it at Whole Foods π
That reminds me of this clay mask (http://www.amazon.com/Aztec-Secret-Indian-Healing-Cleansing/dp/B0014P8L9W) I bought it 2 years ago and was to “scared” to use it π
Lol…well hopefully this version is less scary?
More glowy skin is always something to strive for! Thanks for sharing this recipe, can’t wait to try it π
Agreed! I’m always looking for a little more glow π Please let me know if you give it a try!

It is way more fun to make it yourself π
this sounds like something my skin needs. i have been wanting to try a new face mask

This sounds like a great recipe! I try to use natural products on my skin as often as possible.
Natural is totally the way to go! Thanks for checking it out π
I’ve got a DIY coconut oil face cream on the blog that I love to use at night, and I’m always putting random stuff from the kitchen on my face. Baking soda as a cleanser, ACV as a toner, avo and/or oatmeal as a mask. It’s a wonder I have anything left to actually eat lol.
Putting stuff from the kitchen on your face is definitely the best. I need to check out your coconut oil face cream!
Mmm this sound amazing! I want to try this one out. xx
Bonus: it also smells amazing. π Let me know if you give it a try!
