“If people can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you you can’t do it. If you want something, get it. Period.”
I saw that quote for the first time a few days back, and it really struck a chord with me. Have you ever been crazy excited for an exciting idea you couldn’t wait to share with someone only to be greeted with “realism”. You know what I mean by “realism”. When people claim to be realistic, by telling you all the reasons why what you want is “crazy” or “unrealistic” or “hard”.
Don’t listen to them.
If you want something, get it. Period. Sometimes we all have crazy dreams that are a little out there, or we begin a journey not knowing if it will end as planned. And you know what? That’s ok. A few months ago when I started this crazy little journey to become a Registered Dietician, I had a million reasons not to. It was too expensive, I have a good stable job, I don’t want to go back to school until I’m 30…but then I had a thought. Being in school until I’m 30 working towards something I’m incredibly passionate about, sounds far better than sitting in the same cubicle when I’m 60 wondering “what if”. I finally knew what I wanted, so I decided to get it. Period.
No matter what your “it” is, don’t be afraid to reach for it. It’s never easy, but it’s always worth it!
