Happy Friday! Yet another week in the books, and it’s basically Christmas. How did that happen exactly? It would be great to have another full week before Christmas gets here…you know so I can put up my tree (whoops) and buy presents for my family and friends (double whoops). Don’t worry though friends, I’ll still do those things. Eventually. People like New Year’s presents too right?
Anyways, onto this recipe business. Puppy Chow is an excellent Christmas treat. Or anytime of year treat. Peanut Butter…chocolate…sugar. Who wouldn’t love that? Oh that’s right, me as a child. I was a freak and hated peanut butter until I was 21, then decided I loved it. It’s cool though, because in the past 4 years I’ve managed to consume 21 years worth of peanut butter to make up for it. Don’t even worry about it.
In its original form, Puppy Chow isn’t the healthiest thing in the world. I wanted to make a healthy Puppy Chow without sacrificing flavor. I swapped the Chex for almonds and Barbara’s Puffins (aka my cereal soulmate) because it is the most delicious cereal ever. My boyfriend and roommate make fun of me for loving it so much…haters gonna hate. The crunchy texture Puffins give the recipe is incredible. I made a few other swaps, and upped the protein for a version that is a bit healthier and incredibly delicious. It would be perfect for parties or great as a gift. Give it a try!

Were there any foods you hated as a kid but love as an adult?

This looks fantastic!! Growing up, I thought I was allergic to peanut butter due to my mom having an allergy to all types of nuts and getting a rash the first time I ate it. But then I finally decided to get tested, just to be sure, and found out I wasn’t! So since then, I’ve been eating gargantuan amounts of peanut butter to make up for it! 🙂
Woop! So glad you arent allergic so you can enjoy the good stuff 😉
