Beauty products are the key to my heart. More than food. Yeah, I said it.
I have mentioned it before, but it’s worth repeating: what we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in our bodies.
But let’s take a step back for a second. How the heck are you? I’ve kind of been the worst lately things have been pretty light in the blog post department and non-existent in the social media and blog reading department. I hate not being able to catch up on my favorite blogs and Insta-stalk you guys. I really do. The past week and a half has just been a huge whirlwind. I made the last minute decision to fly to Anaheim two weeks ago to go to Chalene Johnson’s Smart Success Seminar. Smart Success is all about creating systems, and getting organized around your personal priorities.
Anyone who knows me knows this is a huge deal because 1. I love Chalene Johnson and feel like she is my spirit animal. 2. I had fallen into some really bad habits and really needed to work smarter, not harder. It was life-changing. I walked away with so much inspiration and so many ideas. I met a ton of great people, got a break from the hideous Seattle rain and I DANCED WITH CHALENE. To The Humpty Dance no less. Spoiler alert: I love The Humpty Dance. It’s only one of my favorite songs ever. My life is complete.
Since coming back home, I have been really inspired to simplify my life and build better habits and systems to help me reach my personal goals. So that means instead of posting daily on Insta, I have been de-cluttering like a mad woman. Instead of reading my favorite blogs (I promise I miss you guys!) I have been going through to-do’s that have been nagging at me for months (ie: unpacking boxes from when I moved last year, cleaning out my closet, etc.). Lastly, I have made more time for pure joy. Happy hours with friends, dinners with my boyfriend and dark, poorly taken photos on my personal social media accounts where I don’t care how many likes or follows I get. In short – I’ve taken a break from internet life to take better care of myself, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
I’ll be back to full-blown internet life soon. But man, it feels nice to just be.
Along the lines of taking care of myself, you guys know how much beauty is my jam. I am always looking for new products to try, which is why I was super excited when my friends at Whole Foods sent me one of their “hello, beauty” bags to celebrate Beauty Week 2016. Beauty Week is dedicated to highlighting the largest selection of organic and natural products based on Whole Foods’ quality standards. This year, Beauty Week is from March 16 – March 22. You can visit your local Whole Foods for product demos, samples and special sales.
Um, a whole week dedicated to beauty products? Count me in. And they are sustainable products? HOLLA ATCHA GIRL. The hello, beauty bag was stocked with some serious goodies. Some of them are already staples in my skincare routine, and others were new products I was excited to try.
Now for the goodies.
- MyChelle Perfect C Serum –> I put this under my daily sunscreen and my skin was soft and glowy all day. Winning.
- evanhealy Rose Geranium Facial Tonic –> I used this as a toner and it got off some residual ick that cleansing didn’t remove.
- Dr. Hauschka Soothing Cleansing Milk –> I followed up my oil cleansing with this gentle cleanser and it was lovely. Didn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry.
- Weleda Skin Food –> I have the driest hands ever. This little tube of goodness was a lifesaver in my purse.
- Burt’s Bees Sunset Cruise Lipstick –> I LOVE THIS. This may be my favorite product in the bag. That’s saying a lot because I normally hate any and all lipstick.
- Acure Pore Minimizing Facial Scrub –> I have been looking for a good facial scrub, and this one was super gentle and effective. I pretty much love everything Acure makes.
- Trilogy Rosehip Oil –> Rosehip oil is a holy grail skincare staple for me as a night time serum. Loved this little bottle I could stick in my purse!
- derma e Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask –> Wearing this mask made me look a little scary while it was on. But when I washed it off I was left with soft smooth skin. So I’ll take that as a win.
- Mineral Fusion Lash Curling Mineral Mascara –> I’m a mascara snob and am picky about formulas. Loved the texture of this one, it made a great daytime mascara.
On March 18, Whole Foods Market will offer their limited edition “hello, beauty” bags to celebrate Beauty Week. On this date, the bags will retail for $15 each which is a total steal. But if you head over to my Instagram, you can enter to win one of two hello, beauty bags I’m giving away!
